I'll let you in on a little secret about my hair - it's a bit rubbish. Its fine and I don't have a lot of it, and it can't handle a lot of product at all. I had been toying with the idea of using a hair oil for some time but was always too chicken to give it a go, as I have tried similar products in the past which haven't worked out for me.
To give you an idea, hair treatments that are designed to be used before the hair is washed are fine, but the reality is the bulk of them are leave-in treatments, designed to be used after the hair is washed and towel dried. Cue my frustration at trying to find a hair oil to soothe my frazzled hair. I've heard a lot about the L'Oreal Mythic Oil, but here in Australia its quite expensive, so I thought I'd go for a cheaper option first and see how I got on with it.
I stumbled upon the Pantene Intensive Damage Repair Oil as I was having a little browse at their shampoo. At $9.99, I thought I'd give it a whirl, and I haven't been disappointed! I applied three pumps of the oil (it's called an oil but its actually quite thick), and ran it through the ends of my hair, starting around my jawline. I left it for five minutes or so, convincing myself that that was a suitable amount of time for it to do its thing.
And did it ever! I dried my hair and styled it just as I would normally do, except as soon as it was dry, I could already tell that the ends felt different. Smoother. Less frazzled. The blurb on the packaging states that it is to help fix split ends and prevent future ones from appearing. Whether an oil that is only applied to the ends of the hair can prevent future split ends I do not know, but I'm rather impressed with this little product, and can't see any reason not to continue using it!
