This week's mid-week confession: I splurged a tiny little bit in Priceline. I went in to browse at some shampoo and ended up walking out with a little bag of goodies (and the shampoo I had originally gone in there for was not one of them).
First on the list is Max Factor's Colour Elixir Giant Lip Pen in the colour 'Couture Blush'. Let's start with the packaging shall we? It is all but the same as the Clinique Chubby Stick and Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stains (try saying that when you've had a couple of glasses of wine), but perhaps a little bit thinner. No complaints there. The product itself is quite nice - its a dusky pink shade and looks quite nice with a purpley-toned soft smoky eye (say with colours like Naked Lunch and Satin Taupe from MAC).
However. And there is a however. Unlike the Clinique and Revlon products, which twist up and down, meaning you actually get quite a lot of product, the Max Factor one is just as is. It doesn't twist up at all so what you see is what you get - and that isn't a lot! Having said that, it cost me $9.95 which is fairly cheap where Max Factor is concerned (in Australia anyway), so I can't really complain overall!
Secondly, we have the Rimmel Scandaleyes Waterproof Kohl Kajal eyeliner (why do these products insist on having the most ridiculously long names?!). I already have the nude one and I absolutely love it so I'm holding high hopes for this new one, which I believe is called 'Bright Blue'. I bought this with the intention of wearing it on the waterline for what is known in beauty circles as a 'pop of colour'. I've yet to try it but I did swatch the colour on my hand and I do quite like it.
Third up we have the V05 Give Me Texture Instant Oomph Powder (AGAIN with the silly long names!). I've heard a fair bit about these texturising powders but had been a bit sceptical about them - and for good reason. All this powder seemed to do was make my hair really frizzy and a little bit sticky. Perhaps I wasn't using it correctly, as strangely enough the packaging doesn't have any instructions on it, but I kind of thought it couldn't be that hard. Apparently the L'Oreal version is quite good but I haven't seen it anywhere here yet, but maybe I'll keep my eyes peeled.
Last up we have Max Factor's Max Colour Effect Mini Nails in the shade 'Sunny Pink'. This is a light pinky colour with gold metallic shimmer running through it - or in the bottle it is anyway. On the nails it is MUCH more gold - and gold nail polish is never a good thing in my book. With the slightly pinky tone it kind of makes it look like I don't actually have a nail there, almost like it has dropped off! Urgh. Not good.
All in all, when I say I splurged, I might be exaggerating a bit, seeing as I only bought four products. Five products or more makes a splurge - or that's what I'll keep telling myself.
