The Travel Post

Now, I may not be an international jet setter, but I have partaken in my fair share of long-haul flights, usually between the UK and Australia, and on the beauty front, I've done it wrong every single time. I always fly with a full face of make up, no matter the time of my flight, and I never cleanse my face while I'm on the plane. Don't get me wrong, I pack my little travel sizes of the various lotions and potions that I convince myself that I will use, but does it ever happen? Well that would be a big fat no.

I have a trip planned in December however, and this time I'm going to do it right. For starters, I have come to terms with the fact that, while I will look fabulous in the airport, I do not need to slap on a full face of the war paint to commence thirty-odd hours of travel. Secondly, I'll be damned if I don't properly cleanse and moisturise my skin while I'm on that plane. I recently started using Clinique's 3-Step system (more on that to come), and I have some dinky little travel sizes, thanks to their excellent free gifts that they often have. As it stands, I have a mini size of all but one of the items in my regular skin care routine, so I'm on the right track. And I will use them. I will.

My main issues post-plane journey are breakouts and dry patches - oh the joys of having ridiculously sensitive and dry yet also oily skin. I'm not sure what the break outs are brought on by - possibly not cleaning my face and touching it a lot with potentially very dirty hands? Aeroplanes are bacteria-ridden places people! The dry patches are definitely caused by not taking my make up off and not moisturising for two days straight.

Here is my little list of treats that I'll be using on this flight. Before you read this list, no, I am not sponsored by Clinique, nor do I work for them or have any sort of affiliation at all. I buy everything myself from Clinique with my hard earned cash! This list is simply the result of having to use fragrance-free skin care, and there really being a lack of decent skin care brands that specialise in fragrance-free.

1. Clinique Liquid Facial Soap
This isn't a make up remover, but a deep cleanser, to be used after make up remover. However since I won't be wearing any make up, this one alone will suffice to clear the muck off my face!

2. Clinique Clarifying Lotion
Clinique's liquid exfoliator. Swept over the face with a cotton wool ball, to really get rid of the little flaky grimy bits of dead skin.

3. Clinique Dramatically Different + Moisturising Lotion
Because who wouldn't moisturise?

L-R: Liquid Facial Soap, 7 Day Scrub, Clarifying Lotion,
Dramatically Different + Lotion, Moisture Surge Facial Spray

4. Clinique 7-Day Scrub
I feel that this would be good one to use half way during my stop over. Refreshing my face with an effective but gentle exfoliating scrub should do the trick.

5. Clinique Moisture Surge Facial Spray
This is a new product to me, having received it in the latest gift pack. Unlike most facial sprays, which are just glorified water and actually dehydrate your skin, this one is more like a liquid moisturiser. I've given it a whirl since I got it a few days ago, and I'm quite impressed. I think this would be a good one mid-flight, for when my skin is feeling a bit lack lustre.

So there it is. My travel may still be four months away, but this is the plan to keep my skin in check while I'm winging my way home.
